Welcome to the New Year 2023!

A new year brings the taste of hope, the taste of opportunity, the taste of fresh starts- the taste of something new. This year, I didn’t specify any resolutions; instead, I decided to take a moment to breathe. I have ongoing goals, dreams, and passions I am actively working towards, and there a few new thoughts I want to tease out, but the one thing I want to prioritize this time around is rest.
“Life is beautiful.” The words of my godmother whom I had the privilege of visiting over the holidays. I remember observing her, noting how she was so calm, taking things in life as they came and yet still achieving the goals in life she desired to achieve. She seemed grounded and at peace, seemingly unbothered by the chaos yet completely interested in all that life had to offer.
I wanted more of that in my own life. In chasing the career, striving for goals, tackling the next project, and balancing the ebbs and flows of various relationships I didn’t realize how I was constantly operating in overdrive. Constantly stressed, on high alert, tension taut in every muscle of my body, mind, and spirit.
This time around, I will not spend energy setting goals I know may be unrealistic for me and further perpetuate this high level of anxiety I am all too familiar with. Instead, I will be clear with my intentions, spend time in meditation, and embrace the journey more than the destination.
What are the intentions you are setting for the new year? Need help on where to start? Check out this video on my YouTube channel to see if it is helpful to you on your journey as we embark into the year 2023.
Agreed! We need to take time like they say to smell the roses.
Being present in the moment. Truly experiencing what life has to offer. Complete opposite of what culture teaches us with "hustling and grinding."
