Size vs. Health

It is very tempting to believe that “smaller” = “better”. News flash! Health is not a number. Health is not a size. Health is not a specific body type. Health is not unique to a particular ethnicity. In my medical career thus far I have seen both thin and larger people suffer from chronic health conditions. I have also seen both thin people and larger people in excellent health. Just based on observation, there is no way health can simply be restricted to how someone looks externally.
The definition of health will differ from person to person, however the general principle remains the same- moving your body consistently, eating a balanced diet (which includes fruits, protein, vegetables, whole grains, and appropriate portion sizes), and learning what works well for you to reduce stress, improve social relationships, and bring meaning to your life.
Instead of focusing on the latest fad that will yet again fail to offer a permanent quick fix for weight loss under the guise of being the next health craze, take the time to learn about what are good foods to eat and why, what types of exercises make you feel good, how to self-soothe and build a healthier relationship with self and others, maintaining boundaries to have adequate rest, and make life changes that leave you feeling fulfilled.
Plain and simple, anything worth having (health included) takes time and commitment. Trust me, it is worth working hard to maintain and/or improve your overall health and well-being no matter how long or small the steps.

Wow so true😊
